Sixth Grade Moving- Up Ceremony

On the last night before the end of the school year, Walker was supposed to live-stream a moving up ceremony for the sixth graders. Abby had the idea to dress up, so we all put on some nice clothes, Benji and I took a selfie, and we settled in to watch. The excitement fizzled as the broadcast cut out, rebooted and then cut out again. The principle settled for sending out a few videos (message from teachers and a digital yearbook):

Anniversary Dinner - 19 years

For our anniversary dinner, we decided to take in from Tavola, which is one of our favorite restaurants and, coincidentally, reopened just a few days before. We had gone earlier out to Jefferson Vineyards to pick up a bottle of our favorite wine:

The best part was dessert - we split chestnut cheesecake and flourless chocolate orange cake

19th Anniversary Hike

Kevin and I both took the day off to celebrate our anniversary (first time we could ever do that!) and we decided it to use it to hike in the newly re-opened Shenandoah. We thought carefully about which hike and what time to go and it worked out perfectly. It was a beautiful 3.2 mile hike to Chimney Rock and back, the temperature was perfect with just a few sprinkles, and there was not a single other hiker on the trail. The first mile or so was full of wildflowers before converting into an oak forest and eventually a boulder field before opening out to spectacular views:

Building a Quarantine Lego Set

This quarantine time has given us the chance to do some fun family things we have not done in a while:

Splendora's Gelato Tasting

THE UVA Club offered this as a fun family activity. They delivered flights (we ordered 2) of gelato to our door, and the owner of Splendoras offered a guided tasting, which was mostly her telling stories about the flavors and answering questions. The gelato was excellent, as expected, but the talk was also very, very interesting and we learned quite a bit :
