Abby texted us last Friday that there would be a massive snowball fight on the Green at midnight, which is apparently a tradition at the first big snow. She also sent a picture of herself showing the heavy snow falling all around. They got 7 inches over the weekend and apparently it is still snowing!

This was a bucket list item that we did not quite make happen on the actual day (although I was working from home and did sit down to a cup of tea myself). But, later in the week I spied a recipe in the New York Times for "Kentucky Butter Cake," and that seemed like the perfect excuse for a redo. I baked up this cake and we all sat down to a slice with a nice cup of tea (well, in Benji's case, cocoa):
On the actual day of her birthday, Kevin and Benji had to be at engineering night at Buford, but Josh came down from NY and we had a fancy dinner at the Ivy Inn:
It was a warm and sunny MLK day here in Virginia, with the midday temperature rising to 69 degrees. We decided to take advantage and check off the bucket list item of "walking the John Warner Trail to get a treat." We decided the treat would actually be lunch out and got ourselves sandwiches and chips at Great Harvest:
Benji's FTC team had their second (and final) qualifier at Albemarle High School (in Charlottesville), which was convenient and let us attend a few of the matches live:

Kevin and Benji could not join us for dinner on Gammy's actual birthday because they had to be at Buford Engineering night. We decided to have cake at our regular Sunday dinner a few days ahead of her actual birthday so that they could partake:
