Watching the Parade

The Dogwood Parade, that is. 115 floats, marching bands and, of course, the shriners in their little cars. Abby was enthralled by the Dogwood Princesses and was practicing her Queen Elizabeth wave as they went by.

Well Bear Clinic

On Thursday, Abby's class took a trip to the UVA children's hospital Well Bear Clinic. They each chose an animal that they wanted to have checked out. Abby chose Sparkles, her unicorn, seen below having her pulse recorded. At the other stations, the "nurses" weighed and measured Sparkles, checked her eyes, ears, and throat, tested her reflexes, looked at her teeth, and gave her a shot. Quite a morning for a little unicorn.

Here are Abby and Caroline showing off their animals.

Happily, everyone got a clean bill of health.

No More Ba-Bas

As of Easter, we took away all of Benji's bottles. We had one day where he was a little cranky about it, but he was completely adjusted after that. Here he is drinking from the sippy like a pro. Now, if only weaning them from the thumb were as easy. As Abby approaches her fifth birthday, that is going to be a monster to contend with....

Flat Stanley

Abby's class visited the theater this week to see "The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley," about the little boy who was flattened by a bulletin board. Here is the class dressed up in their theater clothes:

They are supposed to be learning about "theater manners," but the no talking during the show has not stuck yet. Evidently Abby and Penelope spent much of the show whispering secrets:

Peer Pressure

Over the last several weeks in Abby's class, a few of the kids have been pretending to have babies. After watching this from the sidelines for a while, Abby finally decided that if all the other kids could do it, so could she....

Oatmeal manners

Someone may have to tell him that sticking your face in the bowl is not the polite way to eat oatmeal.

Fancy Abby

Abby found these butterfly clips in one of her Fancy Nancy books and was ecstatic (that's fancy for really happy). She wanted me to take a picture to share.

Say goodbye car seat

Although he has, amazingly, not yet hit the weight or height limit on this thing, we are finally switching to the convertible seat this weekend.

April Fools!

Abby has been anticipating April Fools' Day dinner since last years fake egg salad sandwiches. To shake things up and catch her off guard, we did an April Fools' breakfast instead. We told her she had to eat all of her cheesy eggs before she could have cereal. It took her two bites before she realized it was actually marshmallows, dyed yellow and melted with a little butter. Then she ate the whole plate and asked for seconds.
