Family Date Night

This was a bucket list item this month. We got food from Luce, the newly-reopened pasta restaurant, set the table nicely and all got dressed up for dinner:

Nature Conservancy Hike

We were originally trying for a county park North of town, but it was super crowded. Google maps showed this little nature conservancy property nearby, so we checked it out. Much less crowded (and by the time we finished we were the only ones there) and a pretty 2 mile loop along a river:

Neighborhood Chalk Obstacle Course

One of our neighbors drew a chalk obstacle course up a rarely driven street and Benji and I ventured out (about a mile walk) to do it:

Mother's Day 2020

We had a really nice Mother's Day this year, despite quarantine preventing us from our usual brunch at the law school:

Abby and Kevin made a fantastic brunch

Homemade cards from everyone, knitting book and yarn from Kevin, pedicure certificate from Abby
Benji's gift arrived later but was really special
We met my mom at the Virginia Forestry grounds for a supper picnic. We kept our distance but were able to talk and enjoy a meal together
The kids also promised to wash the car for me (they really treated me this mother's day). They ran out of time on Sunday, but did it later in the week:

80s Theme Day

One of this month's bucket list items was a 1980s themed movie night. After crowd sourcing some suggestions, we decided to turn it into an entire day of fun:

Sugar cereal for Saturday morning cartoon watching

We started with the Smurfs, then moved on the Muppet Babies and the Real Ghostbusters

We took a fitness break. Kevin and the kids were scared of being seen by the neighbors, so after a few pictures we took the actual exercise inside (Jane Fonda videos streamed on YouTube)

Lunch time! Kraft mac and cheese, apple slices with peanut butter dip, handi snacks and grape soda

We watched the A Team pilot in the afternoon. It held up well! (Knight Rider held up less well, but I still enjoyed it)

80s junk food snacks

Pop-tarts. Kevin insists cherry is the best flavor, but he is wrong.

Fruit roll-ups

Knitting

Earlier this year, Abby, Benji and I took up knitting. We had been spurred on by my trip to California, during which Amy got me started on a knitting project. Abby and Benji are still finishing up their first works, but I completed my scarf, which both kids have had fun wearing in the house. I quickly moved on to my second project of a hat, which was a lot of fun. Up next: socks:
