Last Saturday, we drove to Richmond to pick Abby up from the airport. We decided to head out a little early and visit an NPS site we had long been meaning to see. Maggie Walker was the first black woman to found and be president of a bank, and she had a big role in African American history in both Richmond (as the Queen of Quality row) and in the US generally (she sat on the national board of the NAACP). Her house on Quality Row in Richmond is preserved as an historic site:
