As is our custom, we brought Abby a birthday muffin when she woke up:
She was excited to move into present opening from there:
| Books from Grandpa Steve |
| She's pretty excited about these |
| Clothes from Aunt Barbara |
| Purple, her favorite! |
| She's really happy about what's in this bag (a stuffed hedgehog) |
| Gratuitous shot of birthday bear |
After gifts, we moved downstairs for breakfast. Even though she already had a muffin, Abby wanted to try the (sugared) cereal I let her choose for her birthday (I heavily influenced her choice of sugar cereal here):
After breakfast, Abby and I did a little clothes shopping and then came home for a special birthday lunch, which Gammy joined us for (Gammy had already taken Abby out for a birthday dinner and shopping trip Tuesday night, but we were glad she could join us for lunch). Abby requested tomato basil mozzarella paninis and peach crisp, so that's what we had:
While we were shopping, our next door neighbor Ms. Jeanne brought over a card and cake for Abby, and after lunch another package arrived - this one from Uncle Tom and Aunt Christine. Here is Abby in her new outfit, looking so grown-up:
I had to work a little in the afternoon and Benji had a swim meet scheduled in the evening, so we thought this was the end of birthday festivities, but the meet ended up postponed due to bad weather, so we baked brownies and made sundaes in the evening (and now we will all need to eat nothing but vegetables for the rest of the week!).
