Belated Birthdays Gathering

Abby and her 2 closest Cville friends got together to belatedly celebrate both her birthday and Lucy's, which was a week later. There were cupcakes (baked by Lucy), cookies (from Abby) and some very sweet gifts and cards. They sat and talked for a couple of hours in Lucy's backyard and Lucy;s mom was kind enough to forward this picture:

Our last bucket list item for July needed to be celebrated on July 31st, the day of Harry Potter's birthday. To commemorate the occasion, we made 2 kinds of pasties (veggie and pumpkin), drank butter beer and played some Harry Potter games:

The Age of Social Media has finally arrived for Abby, as Julia convinced her (with our permission) to get an instagram account. Julia cross-posted their first picture so that Abby had instant followers:

When we got back to the lake, Benji agreed it was time for another haircut. He's been making noise about my just doing his cuts from now on, even when the lock down is over:

Lake Anna Outdoor Fun

It was oppressively hot for most of this trip, so we spent a lot of time indoors.  The littles ventured out most days for a little time floating on the lake, and one morning the adults made it out as well.  It rained on Thursday early, clearing up for one perfect outdoor evening in which we had a campfire and played corn hole:

It's taken a week to get organized, but I decided to break the pictures from our lake trip with the Lamy-Peterson clan into two sets. This first set is hanging out around the house, which is most of what we did:

First night -- we brought Thai food and enjoyed catching up

We all enjoyed the arcade room. We had two family v. family pop-a-shot contests (the Payne-Paquettes dominated because of Kevin)

The kids played a lot of foosball and practiced to beat the adults

We played an 8-person (4 team) Rail Baron game over 3 nights (at Sophia's behest)

The kids put on their long-delayed Easter play that had been intended for our canceled April visit

They had a very difficult time getting through their lines without laughing
