Super Bowl 2021

We usually watch the game at the Daly's and have gotten used to the rhythm of their Super Bowl parties. We decided to recreate a smaller version for ourselves, even though none of us are big football fans. To increase our enjoyment of the game, we made a series of bets, filled out a Super bowl squares sheet and printed out commercial bingo. We also created a "game day" food spread, including cake pops from scratch (which were meant to resemble footballs but...didn't):

Ready to watch. Benji had a lot of questions about the game this year.

It's the first  Saturday in February and we decided to observe it this year:

Groundhog Day 2021

We ended up having our Groundhog Day movie watching party on Monday since the kids had a snow day, but on Tuesday we watched video of the ceremony from Gobbler's Knob at lunch and had a special celebratory dinner:

House of Cards

This was our last bucket list item for January, which we accomplished on the very last day of the month. It was fun and frustrating but we all got some cards up, although only Abby succeeded in making a traditional house of cards that looked like the picture on the bucket list:

My attempt, which at least got to a second level

Snow Day 2021

We had our first real snow fall in quite some time this past weekend. It was not nearly as big as was promised (4 inches instead of 12), but it was plenty to play in and the kids enjoyed it. We also loved getting outside to the sledding hill where we could stand 6 feet away from other adults and have actual in-person conversation:

The Games We Play

Since we've been mostly just home, we've been playing a lot more games. We've been trying to introduce new (old) games to the kids. We got Pandemic for Christmas and that has been particularly popular:

Disney Parks Treat

One of our bucket list items this month was to make a treat from the Disney Parks. The kids decided this should be churros, and we decided to try to make them in the air fryer. They turned out surprisingly well, and I even whipped up some chocolate dipping sauce while they cooked. We listened to some songs from the park and reminisced about Disney as we ate.
