Around the start of the pandemic, Benji asked me to teach him to knit. He took to it pretty quickly and started a scarf, but then got busy with other tasks. He has worked on the project sporadically over the last few years, but finally finished over the long Halloween/Election Day weekend:
Benji did not dress up for Halloween proper, but over the weekend his friend Shay hosted a post-Halloween party for the Marching Band. Several of Benji's friends were dressing up as insects, so Benji asked if we had any thoughts. This is what we came up with for a quick fix:

He was invited to hang out at his friend Harper's house to watch movies and hand out candy. Apparently there was also some frolicking in the streets:

On Saturday, the Marching Knights went to Powhatan for their last competition of the season. Since college bands don't have competitions, Benji reminded us that this would be his last one ever (sniff!). He said it was a lot of fun and they took some great pictures:

We've tried to make the fall foliage hike into a tradition. Like last year, we planned it for a day when Benji would be gone at a Marching Band competition (his last!). We went back to Black Rock Summit because we liked it so much last year. Shenandoah was very orderly even with the government shutdown and it was a beautiful day:
