It will take a little while to catch up, but wanted to do this in chronological order. We had a few last minute events before vacation, most notably Abby's Champs meet.
A few days ahead of the meet, the team met for a rally and to make spirit posters. Abby was very proud of her group's work:
You may not be able to see it in the picture, but there were lots of sparkles involved.
Abby did great at the actual meet, particularly in backstroke. Here are a few pictures of her swimming at the giant UVA pool:
Her relay team came in 5th out of 17. She was 48th out of 186 in freestyle, which is about where she normally swims. BUT, she was 15th out of 140 in backstroke! And swam the Gold Time for her age, which gives her national ranking (and has been her goal all season). Here is her name in lights (coming in 2nd in her heat):
