Engineering Academy

Using our time on the road to catch up on a few back posts. The two weeks right after school, Abby participated in Buford's Engineering Academy. Buford, along with Sutherland Middle School and UVA received a grant to have a small group of students work on engineering projects in advancement of engineering curricula across the country. Abby was one of 6 students chosen from Buford to participate.  On the last day of the academy, the students had an expo to show off their projects. Abby's group made a gondola powered by a solenoid engine. In Abby's words, it "sort of" worked. Pictures from the expo:
