Road Trip 2021: Making our Way to Western Massachusetts

 On Thursday we started our trek back southward, wending our way through Vermont to just over the border in Massachusetts:

Our first stop of the day (on Aunt Sean's recommendation) was Plymouth, VT, where Calvin Coolidge was born/raised/sworn in as President

This is the actual bed on which he was born

And the room where he was sworn in by his father (a notary public) in the middle of the night. On the table is the bible and pen that they used

Behind them is the house that the Coolidges moved to when Calvin was 4 (it's right across that street from the birth place)

The whole little town is preserved as it was when Coolidge became president

The whole family is buried in a cemetary a few streets away

After Plymouth, we made our way to Westin and the Vermont Country Store, which was a lot of fun (even though it was pouring rain). We had lunch outside in the tents and then browsed the store. By far, the biggest attraction was the huge old fashioned candy section

From Westin, it was not too much farther to Massachusetts and our final destination, Williamston. The town is literally on the border ad Benji was amused that the Welcome to Williamston sign came before the Welcome to Massachusetts sign on the road. It was still raining, so we decided to take a "car tour" of Williams, which worked surprisingly well. We followed along with the self-guided tour and Abby jumped out for a quick picture because she wanted a complete set

Back at the Cozy Corner Motel, we relaxed, watched the Olympics, ate EZ Mac and Cereal for dinner and tried our wax bottles.

The kids thought they were "not bad"
