We made it across the border with no incident and continued wending our way towards Greenville, Maine, where we would spend the night. Along the way, we stopped at a few pretty roadside attractions:
We arrived in Greenville in the early afternoon, with our only plans being to take a moose safari after dinner. I asked the desk clerk for suggestions, and he pointed me towards a B-52 crash site just outside of town. In January 1963 a US Air Force plane crashed on Elephant Mountain during training exercises (it lost its stabilizer due to high winds). Most of the remains of the plane are still at the crash site (owned by Plum Creek Timber Co.) They improved the foot trail so visitors can view the wreckage, which is astounding:
Once we got back to town, we had a quick dinner at the Stress Free Moose. We let the server know that it was Abby's birthday, and she brought her a piece of cake at the end of the meal:
After dinner, we met our guide, Chris Young, who drove us all through the backwoods of Greenville in search of moose. He really knew what he was doing, and we caught 5 over the course of the night. It was hard to get pictures, as they moved fast and were far away, but here are a few:

I didn't get a good picture in the morning, so I asked the kids to let me take a picture of Benji's birthday present to Abby. Also, you can see our cute room at the Moose Mountain Inn (with moose themed bedspreads):
